Air France marks Women’s Day with biggest female crew

Air France is forming the biggest ever all-female crew to celebrate International Women’s Day on Friday, with 2 pilots and 22 stewardesses on board flight AF054 to Washington, operating the Airbus A380 superjumbo with 516 passengers.

Air France has celebrated International Women’s Day for several years. All-female flight crews often operate at various times of the year, but the March 8 crew has become an established tradition at the airline. Whether they are flying to Beijing, Tokyo, Mexico City or Washington, these all-female flights are always a popular event for both crew and passengers.
“Seeing an all-female crew lifts people’s spirits. I am very excited about being on board this flight. It’s an opportunity for us to enjoy this flight with our passengers and strengthen links among colleagues,” said Christine Heitz, Flight Captain on Airbus A380.
On March 9, flight AF3578 will also have an all-female crew. Valérie Loëvenbruck, Air France Flight Captain, is behind this initiative for the Boeing 777-200 flight to Madagascar. The aim is to meet two associations in Madagascar funded by the Air France Foundation: “SOS villages d'enfants” and “Aïna enfance et avenir”. The Foundation will be offering the children educational toys and school supplies.
