CYPRUS: Consumer prices ease in September

Consumer price inflation measured on a national basis eased slightly in September to 2.5%, from 2.7% in August, thanks to year on year falls in retail prices such as clothing and furniture, as well as a slower increase in prices of the heavily weighted categories of food, and housing water, electricity and gas.

Compared with the previous month, consumer prices rose by 0.63% in August.
The Statistical Service said that this was mainly due to increases in the prices of certain clothing items, petroleum products, gas, certain fresh fruit, potatoes and pork.
There were decreases in the prices of air fares and certain fresh vegetables.
During the first nine months of the year, the national consumer price index rose by 2.7% compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
