Receipts up 17.1%

After years in the doldrums, Cyprus has seen a buoyant year for tourism thanks not least to troubles in the surrounding region that have diverted tourists to safe destinations.
While tourism arrivals rose by 10.9% compared with the same period of the previous year in January-June, receipts have, for once, risen even higher, by 17.1% in the same period.
Revenue from tourism is estimated at EUR 676.9 mln in the first six months compared with EUR 578.3 mln in the first six months of 2010.
In June alone, revenue from tourism reached EUR 220.0 mln, a rise of 12.5% compared with the EUR 195.3 mln recorded in the corresponding month of 2010.
