Greece dims as a shopping attraction

Residents of Cyprus returning from a trip abroad in June rose by 1.2% compared with the same period of the previous year, according to the Passengers’ Survey.
In June 2011 there were 104,273 trips compared with 103,014 in the same period of the previous year.
The UK was a popular destination, with an increase of 9.6%, from 29,535 in June 2010 to 32,360 in June 2011.
Trips to Greece, which is normally a popular destination for Cypriot shoppers, were down 2.5% to 33, 469 in June.
So far this year, trips to Greece have dropped by around 9.3%, presumably as the persistent strikes make it an unattractive destination for tourists.
