Cyprus police is taking all necessary security measures and conducts checks in sensitive spots more often after recent events in Greece where postal parcels were discovered to possibly contain explosive devices, Police Press Officer Michalis Katsounotos stated to CNA.
Katsounotos said that based on the occurrences in Greece and information gathered via the Police Bureau for Combating Terrorism, extra security measures are being taken particularly at entry and exit points of the Republic as well as at checkpoints leading to and from the occupied areas by order of Chief of Police Michalis Papageorgiou to all police heads and relevant departments.
Furthermore, Katsounotos said that more intensive and frequent checks are being conducted in areas, which may constitute terrorist targets.
