Travel abroad accelerates y/y in July

More people travelled abroad in July 2010 than in July 2009, according to the results of the Passengers Survey published by the Statistical Service Cystat.
The survey showed that 138,801 residents of Cyprus returned from a trip abroad in July, a rise of 7.3% compared with the 129,381 recorded in the same month of 2009.
The pace of increase was faster than June when a rise of 5.4% was recorded.
In July 2010 there was an increase of 0.7% in the trips of residents to Greece (from 53,011 in July 2009 to 53,356 in July 2010).
There was an increase of 1.4% in visits to the United Kingdom (from 28,681 to 29,096 this year).
Russia, remains a dynamic, albeit smaller market, with the number of visits up by 20.2% to 6,587.
