Cyprus seasonal unemployment falls in July

Unemployment measured on a seasonally adjusted basis fell for the first time in seven months in July, reaching 23,218, compared with 23,555 in June.
Non-seasonally adjusted unemployment was up 27.3% over the year earlier at 22,899 in July.
Nevertheless, the pace of increase has been decreasing and this was the lowest increase over the year earlier since February 2009.
The Statistical Service reported that the increase was mainly in the sectors of retail and wholesale trade (an increase of 829), construction (an increase of 657), public administration (624), manufacturing (496), hotels and restaurants (of 486), education (264) and real estate and business activities (of 244).
There was also a 756 increase in the number of unemployed newcomers to the labour market.
