Cyprus car registrations down 14% in Jan-Jun

Registrations of motor vehicles dropped by 14% over the year earlier the first six months of 2010 according to the latest figures from the Statistical Service.
Total registrations reached 23,562 in January in June 2010 compared with 27,389 vehicles in the same period of 2009.
Registrations of private saloon cars decreased by 16.8% to 16,514 from 19,838 in January-June 2009.
Of the total private saloon cars, 7,307 vehicles or 44.2% were new and 9,207 vehicles or 55.8% were used cars.
On the other hand, registrations of goods conveyance vehicles increased by 2.9% to 3,926 in the first six months of 2010, compared with 3,817 in 2009.
Light goods vehicles increased by 8.8% to 3,290 from 3,025 in 2009.
Heavy goods vehicles decreased by 15.1% to 473 in January-June 2010 from 557 in 2009.
Road tractors (units of trailers) decreased by 30.6% to 163 in January-June 2010, from 235 in January-June 2009.
Mopeds of less than 50 cc decreased by 56.2% to 263 in January-June 2010 compared with 600 in January-June 2009.
Mechanised cycles of over 50 decreased by 13.7% to 1,517, compared with 1,758 in January-June 2009.
