Cyprus trade deficit shrinks by over EUR 1 bln in Jan-November

On the basis of preliminary estimates for Foreign Trade in December 2009, total imports/ arrivals reached EUR 452.2 mln, of which EUR 325.7 mln were arrivals from other Member States of the EU and EUR 126.5 mln imports from third countries.
Total exports/dispatches amounted to EUR 82.3 mln, of which EUR 50.1 mln were dispatches to other member states of the EU and EUR 32.2 mln exports to third countries.
Meanwhile, revised data for January-November show that total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other Member States) in January-November 2009 amounted to EUR 5,187.1 mln (EUR 5.2 bln) compared with EUR 6,856.0 mln in January-November 2008.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other Member States) in January-November 2009 amounted to EUR 885.6 mln compared with EUR 1,097.1 mln in January-November 2008.
The trade deficit shrank to EUR 4,301.5 mln in January-November 2009 compared with EUR 5,758.9 mln in January-November 2008, thus by well over EUR 1 billion.
During November 2009 total imports/arrivals (covering total imports from third countries and arrivals from other Member States) were valued at EUR 484.9 mln.
Total exports/dispatches (covering total exports to third countries and dispatches to other Member States) including stores and provisions in November 2009 amounted to EUR 76.5 mln.
Εxports/dispatches of domestically produced goods including stores and provisions reached EUR 40.9 mln whilst exports/dispatches of foreign goods, including stores and provisions, were EUR 35.6 mln.
