Cyprus sees milder drop in tourism arrivals in January

The drop of tourism arrivals in the quiet month of January was the mildest it has been in over eight months, as tourism arrivals fell by 2.4% over the year earlier to 45,952, compared with 47,066 in January 2009.
In December the fall had been 8.2% and for the whole of 2009 tourism arrivals had fallen by 10.9%.
In January a decrease of 10.2% was recorded in tourist arrivals from the United Kingdom (17,788 in January 2010 compared to 19,809 in January 2009) and 8.1% decrease from Germany (4,083 compared to 4,442 last year).
On the other hand an increase of 8.4% was recorded in tourist arrivals from Greece (from 6,888 in January 2009 to 7,470 in January 2010).
