Chief Returning Officer Lazaros Savvides said that around ten thousand Cypriots who temporarily live abroad will vote in the 34 polling stations that will operate abroad.
The counting of the votes and the crosses of preference will take place after the closing of the ballot boxes on Saturday, June 6.
Savvides noted that the official results for the political parties as well as for the crosses of preference will be ready by midnight on Saturday, or early on Sunday morning. However, the results will be announced on Sunday June 7, at 2300 local time (2000 GMT), according to EU legislation.
Savvides said that he does not worry for leaks concerning the results and he pointed out that is strictly prohibited for the Ministry for the Interior to publish any results prior to 23:00 pm on Sunday. However, exit polls or political parties estimations are not prohibited, he added.
