The National Council, the top advisory body to the President on the handling of the Cyprus problem, will convene on November 10, with the direct talks for a Cyprus settlement and the reform of the National Council on the agenda.

Government Spokesman Stephanos Stephanou said the meeting, which was scheduled for November 7, has been postponed for November 10, due to the fact that President of the Republic Demetris Christofias will be participating in the extraordinary European Council on November 7 for the global financial crisis.

Stephanou noted that the National Council's agenda includes the course of direct talks between President Christofias and Turkish Cypriot leader Mehmet Ali Talat for a solution of the Cyprus problem, as well as the functioning of the National Council.

Replying to questions, Stephanou said that all participating parties have been submitting their views on the functioning of the National Council and that President Christofias also has his views.
