Cyprus fresh fruit prices up 43.3% y/y in Q2

Cyprus fresh fruit prices rocketed in April to June, according to the latest figures from the Statistical Service, while pork meat prices fell.
The producer price index of fresh vegetables increased by 43.3% in the second quarter of 2008 compared with the respective quarter of 2007. In June increased to 197 from 133 in the previous month.
The producer price index of tomatoes increased by 61.3% in the second quarter compared with the second quarter of 2007. In June the index increased to 261 from 199 in May.
Cucumbers fell by 12.6% compared with the corresponding quarter of 2007 in Q2.
In June the index increased to 108 compared with 63 in the previous month.
The producer price index for all fruits recorded an increase of 55.5% in the second quarter. It reached 171 in June compared with 262 in previous month
The producer price index of pork meat decreased by 13% in the second quarter of 2008 compared with the respective quarter of 2007. For June the index was stable at 130. The producer price index of chicken meat rose by 16.8% in Q2. The index in June was 146, the same as the previous month.
The producer price index of cow’s milk the second quarter of 2008, increased by 18.9% compared with the corresponding quarter of 2007. For June it decreased to 162 from 163 in the previous month.
The production of cows’ milk for June decreased to 11,950 tonnes from 13,020 tonnes in the previous month. Compared to the same month of the previous year it increased by 4.4%.
The quantities of milk products reached 6,320 tonnes of drinking milk, 330 tonnes of cream, 420 tonnes of acidified milk, 30 tonnes of butter and 180 tonnes of cheese from cow’s milk.
