UN top official begins meetings in Cyprus

Lynn Pascoe, UN Under-Secretary General for Political Affairs, will meet Monday morning President Demetris Christofias at the start of a three-day visit to Cyprus.

Pascoe, who arrives late Sunday night, will then see the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community Mehmet Ali Talat.

Later on he will host a lunch with representatives of civil society from the Greek-Turkish Forum.

On Monday afternoon, he will meet leaders of Greek Cypriot political parties and on Tuesday morning he will meet leaders of Turkish Cypriot parties.

Pascoe, who leaves Wednesday noon, is expected to give a press conference before departure.
