Construction tycoon George Paraskevaides received Golden Order of Saint Barnabas, founder of the Church of Cyprus, almost six years after the Holy Synod’s unanimous decision to honour the co-founder of J&P and benefactor to many causes.

Archbishop Chrysostomos II said that the decision to honour George Paraskevaides was taken on August 2, 2001, but was never executed due to the illness of his predecessor.

“It is not only those who struggle and fight on the battle fields that are considered heroes, but also those who fight for life and who through their efforts break the chains of the old establishment and rise up with their generous ambitions and earn the universal love, recognition and appreciation of society as a whole,” he said.

“One of these people is undoubtedly George Paraskevaides,” the Archbishop added.
