The Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEV) and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry have come to Louis’ defense saying that the holiday, cruise and hotels group has been the victim of unfair reporting by the Greek media, possibly driven by political and other interests.

This stance by the media is causing damage to Greece’s image as a destination, is demeaning the Greek maritime industry and is destructive to the good image of a reputable company in this field.

The OEV announcement added that “Louis is one of the pioneer businesses with sound foundations in Cyprus and Greece and we are sure that with its dynamism it will overcome its temporary difficulties and continue to contribute significantly to the economies of Greece and Cyprus.

In conclusion, OEV said that it “is sure that the company will do its utmost to protect the coastal and underwater environment of Santorini, so that this beautiful island of the Aegean will continue to be an attraction for local and international tourists.”

The adverse reporting started last week by the NEA and continued by Kathimerini made accusations regarding the dealings of Louis majority owner Costakis Loizou and other Cypriot hoteliers and property developers, accusing some of bypassing Greek regulations to serve their interests.
