Cypriot President receives Regional Policy Commissioner

Cypriot President Tassos Papadopoulos received on Tuesday EU Regional Policy Commissioner Danuta Hubner, who is on a visit to Cyprus to finalise negotiations on the country’s strategy for the implementation of the new cohesion policy in the next years.
After the meeting, no statements were made.
The purpose of Hubner’s visit is to stress the importance of Cyprus‘ EU membership and to point out that the new European cohesion policy will contribute to more growth and quality jobs in the Cypriot economy.
She will also point out Cyprus‘ chance to benefit from the cohesion policy, by increasing the competitiveness of the Cypriot economy.
Hubner will also discuss the government’s priorities for the implementation of the policy in the period 2007-2013 and Cyprus‘ preparations for the adoption of the Euro, and will exchange views on the current state of affairs in the EU.
