The Council of Ministers, under President of the Republic Tassos Papadopoulos, has approved the establishment of a special committee of experts to form a policy framework for the integration of legal immigrants into the Cypriot society.
According to the decision, the committee will comprise representatives of departments and services of the Ministry of the Interior, which will preside over the committee, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Labour and Social Insurance, Education and Culture, and Health.
Following discussions with representatives of the immigrants, non governmental organisations and specialists, the committee will process a policy framework and a package of practical measures, which will be incorporated in an action plan for the integration of immigrants.
Furthermore, the committee will have to set up appropriate mechanisms to monitor the implementation of the measures to be included in the action plan.
