TAINAN, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Zinchenko Vladislav Ivanovich, Advisor of the Tomsk region Governor, Russia, accompanied with Shelupanov Alexander A., Vice-Rector for Research of Tomsk State University of Control Systems and Radioelectonics (TUCSR), Russia, recently visited National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), southern Taiwan, with President Hwung-Hweng Hwung and Dr. Chin-Hsiang Cheng, Chairman of Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics (DAA), to reveal interest in the academia-industry collaboration and to step up exchange of students in the coming academic year.
NCKU and TUSUR, Institute for Innovations, had signed an agreement on facilitating the academic exchange of faculty and students in 2011, promoting collaborative research between faculty members.
President Hwung welcomed the guests from Russia at a meeting, Jan. 18, saying he was impressed by the international profile of Tomsk State University (TSU) and TUSUR and the distinctive attribute that is appreciated to the world with the efforts of developing advanced technology.
Dr. Zinchenko said that he noticed NCKU’s fruitful experience in academia-industry collaboration, technology transfer and business incubation. He would like to familiarize NCKU’s practice in bridging the academia with the industry and with which an international cooperation structure can be constituted soon.
Tomsk’s practice in academia-industry collaboration has been productive. Dr. Zinchenko acclaimed, “NCKU’s success in integrating academic research with the application adopted by the companies at the adjacent Science Parks in Tainan and Kaohsiung has provided a good foundation for building an international collaboration of industry and academia.”
Cheng was invited by Zinchenko to visit TSU and TUCSR in 2009 for academic exchange and in 2010 one student from TSU visited DAA, NCKU to do research on energy system for half a year.

Tomsk has been expanding its international contacts, according to Ivanovich, and since 2004 it has been developing cooperation with Taiwan.
He said, among all the other Russian regions Tomsk is the leading one in the sphere of cooperation with Taiwan.
From a College of Engineering, NCKU has expanded to its present size with 9 colleges, said President Hwung, and the College of Engineering has achieved the most prominent research results in recent years while the College of Sciences is noteworthy as well in its research achievements.
