Cyprus and Russia reaffirmed their excellent political ties during bilateral political consultations held Thursday in Nicosia.
The consultations, held in the context of the Bilateral Political Consultations Protocol between the two countries, were headed by Alexandros Zenon, Permanent Secretary of the Cypriot MFA and Alexey Meshkov, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation who is visiting Cyprus.
“The meeting reviewed the bilateral relations between Russia and Cyprus and reaffirmed the excellent level of bilateral relations between the two countries,” an official press release writes, adding that the meeting covered issues of common interest such as the developments in Ukraine, Syria, Eastern neighbourhood and other international issues.
Meshkov extended an invitation to Zenon to visit Moscow for the next round of bilateral consultations between the two countries.
Earlier today, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister held separate meetings with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades and the Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides.
