The Minister of Finance, Mr Harris Georgiades and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mrs Gabriela Guellil addressed the event.
SAP Executives shared with Government Officials information on how to incorporate innovative IT solutions to some of the main priorities of the reform plans of the Government of Cyprus and discussed examples of how other governments have used innovative IT solutions to run better. The discussion evolved around subjects as how to build a flawless Public Administration, how to achieve harmonization and standardization of taxation processes, how to facilitate fraud prevention and enable transparent social benefit processes, how to improve public assistance and labor market competence and build an attractive business environment.
Minister of Finance, Mr Harris Georgiades welcomed this event as a stimulating opportunity to get creative ideas and proposals for tackling the challenges faced by the Cypriot public sector, and expressed his appreciation to the German Ambassador Mrs. Gabriela Guellil and the SAP IT Company for devoting their precious time to share their valuable experiences with the Cypriot Government.
German Ambassador Dr. Gabriela Guellil highlighted the efforts of public administrations around the globe to offer electronic public services. With regard to Cyprus she pointed out that “in the framework of the current economic crisis public sector reform has become even more relevant. By co-sponsoring today’s workshop the German Embassy wants to contribute to widening the spectrum of feasible and cost effective solutions. I am, therefore, particularly grateful that SAP agreed to share some of their best practices with us today”.
Country Sales Manager of SAP Cyprus Ltd, Mr Alex Mouradian, commented: “Our aim in SAP is to tap from our vast IT knowledge and experience and share it with the Cypriot decision makers, and thus to support new ways of thinking and working that will enable higher quality services, better policy outcomes and greater engagement of citizens”.
