Cyprus water transport rises 4.1% in 2009

The Statistical Service has announced provisional turnover indices for various branches of transport by activity for January - December 2009.

The main developments by activity for the period of January - December 2009 were as follows.

Land Transport activity decreased by 16.7% compared with the corresponding period of 2008.

Water Transport turnover value increased by 4.1%. There is no river navigation in Cyprus, therefore this is likely to refer entirely to shipping.

Air Transport decreased by 7.2% compared to the corresponding period of 2008, in line with the 10.9% collapse in tourism arrivals.

Postal and courier activities turnover value increased by 0.3% compared with the corresponding period of 2008.
