Cyprus Employers Financial and Business Excellence awards presented

February 09, 2010

The Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEV) has awarded the annual Financial and Business Excellence awards.
The Bank of Cyprus, a leading financial institution, was presented with the award for the best business in Cyprus. It was also presented with the award for best financial services.
Deloitte secured the award for best professional services, Apollonio Private Hospital for best medical services, the University of Nicosia for best educational services and the “Four Seasons” hotel for best tourist services.
President Demetris Christofias stressed the importance of the social role businesses can play, adding that the survival of an enterprise relies on its capacity to evolve and adapt to an environment that is expanding globally.
He also noted that excellence always leads to the right moves and constitutes a precondition for sustainable development in a state.
Noting that economies worldwide are now “economies of knowledge”, he said that those economies which promote pioneering ideas for new products and services can excel.
“It is important to adapt on a continuous basis and develop steadily to secure a clear strategy and prioritization of goals and priorities. Proper preparation to reduce risk from unstable factors is also a must,” the President added.
The President congratulated all the winners of the awards, saying that noble competition is necessary to develop new ideas and high quality jobs.
“Quality has emerged as the main characteristic in all the stages of production and it is necessary in every move,” he concluded in his address.
In his remarks, OEV President Andreas Pittas said that the Federation expects, even in the midst of an economic crisis, to see opportunities for development and prosperity, noting that after every big crisis, there follows the biggest recovery in business and in the economy.
“We have gathered here to see things in a positive and optimistic angle. Economic depression must be seen not as a crisis but as the biggest opportunity to rebuild the economy, our thinking and the way we operate in order to move in the right direction with the right structure,” Pittas added.
