Nearly one in two Cypriots appears to be certain to vote at the European Parliament elections, according to a survey conducted for the European Parliament in all EU member states.
According to the Eurobarometer survey, conducted between 4 – 15 May,
48% of Cypriots express certainty they would cast their vote at the upcoming EP elections, while 11% say they would for sure not go to the polling stations.
Invited to say when the EP elections will take place, 71% of Cypriots – the fourth highest in the EU - gave the correct answer. The highest percentage was recorded in Malta (80%), followed by Greece (78%) and Hungary (74%).
EU citizens believe that unemployment should be the first issue to be discussed during the pre-election period, followed by economy, criminality, pensions and inflation.
European Parliament elections in Cyprus will take place Saturday 6th of June.
Cypriot citizens are called to elect six MEPs.
The Republic of Cyprus entered the EU in May 2004. The first EP elections in Cyprus took place in June 2004.
