Cyprus Airways boosts its fleet with an Airbus 319

November 25, 2008

Cyprus Airways boosted its fleet with an additional Airbus 319 which will arrive at the Larnaca Airport on Wednesday. The Airbus 319 will be given the name “Larnaca” and will carry 126 passengers, 12 of which in the business class.
According to a Cyprus Airways press release, the 2,5 years old aircraft will come from the US and is leased with an agreement for six years by the International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC).
“The agreement is expected to give Cyprus Airways an important commercial advantage and economic benefit”, the press release says.
It adds that the company is about to sell one of its aircraft, an Αirbus 320.
The name “Larnaca” is given to the aircraft in honor of the south coastal town of Larnaca, where the main airport of Cyprus began to operate, after the Turkish invasion of 1974, when Cyprus’ principle airport, the Nicosia airport, has seized to operate and nowadays lies in the UN controlled buffer zone.
