The population of Cyprus in the Government controlled area was estimated at 789.300 at the end of 2007, recording an increase of 1,4% from the previous year.
According to data released by Cyprus Statistical Service (CyStat), the population in the district of Nicosia was 310.900 at the end of 2007, in Famagusta 43.700, in Larnaka 131.900, in Limassol 226.700 and in Paphos 76.100. A 69.9% of the population resided in the urban areas of Cyprus, whereas a percentage of 30.1% resided in rural areas.
